What a sad post to make. The Relics are shattered at the news that one of our own, Steven "Statue" Dunlop has passed away in Indonesia whilst on holidays. Contrary to earlier reports, I now understand that his wife Glenda is on the spot. Our deepest sympathy goes to Glenda, their son Angus and their extended family. Statue has been with the Kincumber club for 13 years and has been an integral part of the Relics. His contributions to our blogs have been numerous. He's always volunteered to help at parties and only last weekend, at Micks 50th, shared with us a stack of photos from last year's end of season trip. Above is a smattering of shots, showing him earning his nick name but also helping us all enjoy life. Steve had a wonderful right foot kick, a delicious temper on the few occasions he fired up at the opposition, and we all knew he had our back on the field.
Vale Steven, we shall miss you greatly. Hat.
How surreal, sitting at home here and thinking about the last couple of games we played together. You were so awesome against those cavemen.
ReplyDeleteStatue we will miss you badly, you were one of the characters that signposted the relics culture of mateship.
Heartfelt sympathy from Claire and I for Angus and Glenda.
