Bung became more and more agitated as the match progressed (and the esky emptied), continually barking suggestions from the sideline. Bung was particularly incensed with Howler and his positional play and Ball for “not keeping his head up”. He also described Sulo as “pedestrian”. To their credit, and obviously recognising their own limitations, Howler, Ball and Sulo sought out Bung post-match to seek some further guidance on how they could improve their respective performances. Bung was more than happy to oblige.
The Relics’ were on the back foot early being down 2-0 after two minutes. Despite this early set back the Relics never really looked troubled and were able to maintain possession with ease. After some great lead up work the Axe was able to chop his way through the Cavemen defence to steer a great through ball from Dukes into the back of the net. This was the first goal of a double for the Relics’ form striker. The Relics went to the first quarter break down 2-1 but they should have been four or five goals up. Dukes, Mickledildo and Whiz all missed simple chances from in front of the goals.
In the second quarter the Relics’ were able to draw even after Dukes converted a penalty. Again, the Relics’ dominated possession and could have scored numerous times but some great goal keeping from the Cavemen goalie saved the day for them.
The third quarter was a scrappy affair. The Relics’ seemed to lose their width with the midfield becoming goal hungry relishing the opportunity for individual glory. Darchinyan in particular nearly wore out his right boot taking unlikely shots from all angles.
In the final quarter the Relics’ reverted back to their team game and it wasn’t long before the Axe loomed onto a ball in the box to seal the victory.
All in all this was a great hit out for the Relics’ and when they played as a unit the midfield looked great combining well with the backs and the strikers.
Congratulations too to Statue and Dallas who, although missing the match, represented the RFS and Ambos respectively with distinction on parade.
Becks
Dear Relics
ReplyDeleteI watched the first half from the carpark (had to be at Bluetongue to watch the A League final). Would have preferred to watch your game. I cannot agree with your Assistant Coach - I thought you boys knocked the ball around well for a bunch of hasbeen amateurs.
Caught up with Blackbeard at Bluetongue. He gave himself a wrap - self assurance - being a German I like that!
Try and get to the next match
"Ossie" Osiek
Maybe we should get Ossie to bring his boots in a straight trade for Blackbeard!
ReplyDeleteShould we limit Bung to a six-pack during the match?
ReplyDeleteLimit the Bung? That would be like censor-shit again. A one way mask might be the go. Liquid and cigs can go in but no noise escapes. Might have to plug the butt as well as the shit outta his mouth just might back flow..
ReplyDeleteLooks like you guys had a fun afternoon.
ReplyDeleteSorry had to go to Sydney.
Some would not beleive me, if I told you I was at a Stones concert on the North side of the harbour. ( ZOO )
Sounds like you guys could have done with some support form the rear & up front. Sorry can't be everywhere all the time.
I didn't see dallas anywhere he to looks like he was missed with his total dominace of the left side (no not the dark side).
Black beard looks he have finally come out. Probably "spurred on" by Mikeldildo
Bung don't hold back we all need to Plug the gaps.
and Cap hat Now I know what MG is now. Any feedback POSH?
Not so sure with it being MG weekend that you are now offering support from the rear and upfront and also suggesting to plug the gaps.
