Relics lose a thriller

The Relics have franked their premiership credentials with a very unlucky loss to the Gosford Cavemen in the Major Semi Final. In order to avenge their defeat in the game that matters, the Relics must now beat the Avoca Gumbies in the Final next Saturday.
The match began at a frenetic pace as both sides slugged it out for possession during the first 20 minutes. The Cavemen had the first real opportunity to score only to be denied by Dallas who defied gravity to become airborne to push an explosive strike to the crossbar and back into the field of play.
Gradually during the first half the Relics began to dominate and at 0-0 at half time, and running downhill in the second half the match was well and truly within their sights.
The second half was all Relics. Despite spending long periods in the attacking zone the Relics were unable to come up with a goal. The Cavemen could see the writing on the wall and were desperate in defence. Tragedy stuck, however, late in the second half when the Cavemen pounced on a loose pass and scored a runaway goal against the run of play. To a man the Cavemen must have thought they were kissed on the arse by a rainbow!
To their credit the Relics accepted the defeat as the one that got away and now are focussed on beating the Gumbies next Saturday. If the Relics make it to the GF – watch out Cavemen – lightening does not strike the same place twice!!
All Relics had powerful games. Well done boys, lick your wounds, and lets live to fight another day.
Rumour has it that Waz is going to gleefully lead a skills session at training.

  2. I'm confident this team in its form will beat the Avoca Gummies at Toukley and get the chance to confirm your lightening theory.
