Relics Pluck Smugglers

The mighty Kincumber Relics have got their season back on track with an impressive 2-1 win over a determined Budgie Smuggler contingent. The boys are now eagerly awaiting their next encounter against the All stars on Tuesday night.

NB - Trying something new! This is a progressive match report. I want everyone to respond on the blog with a positive comment about another player/s so as to build a 'team' match report....

  1. Great idea Posh...I mean Becks. I was working on the BBQ but did notice 'Johnny-on-the-spot'Darchinyan pressure the goal keeper for two neat goals. Well done to the pocket dynamo. Great effort too from Howler who carved up out wide. Let's hope his calf injury responds to Jo's regular massage (but keep it below the knee)!

  2. Maybe, how well Wrecking ball was able to multi task when the free kick in front of our goals was awarded to the Smugglers, by blocking Dallas view of the ball as well as diverting it out of reach for an away goal.

  3. I thought the the plastic pleasure stick went MIA for most of the game. I've just seen the replay on FOX and stand corrected. He did look good in patches!

  4. I am pleased to see my plan of firing up the lads in our side is working to a treat. Both Statue and Smokey have fired up and fired back at me to SHUT THE #$%^ up.Good to see lads.

  5. I thought Shadow's,Banker's & Whiz's feeding of the ball wide helped to give us space down the wing which allowed Phil,Becks or Flem opportunities to continue back down the line or feed to Mick,Pete or Whiz continuing a forward run.Rob & Tony kept Budgie occupied with some deft footwork allowing us to regroup in defence.Howler,Tolly's & Vic's attacking runs also allowed Flem and Statue a few wide chances to feed toward the goal.Dallas was exceptional as keeper.Statue's planking when having done a run up the sideline was an interesting diversionary tactic that was made even more funner when the Avoca player who took the ball from him planked himself!!

  6. IMHO undoubted man of the match was, drum roll, the mighty, marvelous, magnificent mammoth in goals. Dallas played out of his skin. The full stretch 5 yard dive to his right to tip a shot around the corner was absolutely text book in execution, style and panache. Well done big fella.

  8. The call from Bex was for positive comments I second Araldite ( whoever the ###k that is ) that save from Dallas was as good as you would see and saved a draw. The whole team to a man lifted and took the game to Budgie in the second half, well done guys.

  11. When we took the field on Saturday with Becks playing right back, I glanced over to Frost No.1 to see Cruise Beckham starting his game at right back. It brought a tear to my eye to know that in another 35 years Becks would still be playing right back for the Relics.

  12. Holger here again from the BBQ - I saw both Dave and Cruise in action and can assure all concerned that the legendary stoic Relics defence is in good hands. Becks has confided in me that he intends to play on until both father and son can grace the field together as Relics.

  13. Becks flawless display of mopping up any loose ball(especially some of the hamfisted attempts by his keeper to actually catch a ball)inside the penalty area would have taken him back to his glorious days of playing open side breakaway for the Emerging Wallabies, duel citizenship allowing him to follow his illustrious foobball career later for England...

  14. Posh Great Idea. I've only just seen this blog, but in the spirit it was intended, well done Statue. Occasionally the nickname may fit, but on Saturdat Statue sveeral times did hard pressuring runs on backs, forcing them to cough up the ball. In the second half he made several key moves into defence to help at corners and free kicks. Although not directly involved in the play he enabled others, including me, to mark up players closer to their goal. Its those things that we sometimes dont notice or acknowledge.
