Bandanna out for season
The bandanna is out for the season in exchange for sun protection cream and a wrist sweat band, in the past the bandanna has only proved to be a target with calls such as 'kill the pirate' (and that was from my team mates) so it is that the bandanna has been retired but the pirate lives to fight another day......

Diamond Transfer Strengthens Both Teams
Diamond Transfer Strengthens Both Teams
2009 Relic Kevin “Diamond” Reid has signed with the Kincumber “All Stars”. The All Stars have been put together by another 2009 Relic Roy O’Hara. The Silver Brumby has reportedly also bolted to the All Stars line-up. All Stars architect Roy O’Hara did not actively seek the Diamond Reid transfer. It is understood by this correspondent that Diamond negotiated his own transfer deal, and that the deal may have involved significant amounts of his own money. Transfer deals aside, knowledgeable observers of o/45s football believe that the Diamond transfer will strengthen both the Relics and the All Stars for the upcoming season.
Mickledinho Finds Fountain of Youth
2009 Relics Captain Mickledinho has apparently found the fountain of youth in the off season and is headed to the o/35 league for the 2010 season. Mickledinho will no doubt stand out in this league, and as the 2008 35c’s player of the year, he has a reputation to live to. He may even win a toss! Good luck Mick!
Downhill Dave Goes West
The 2010 Relics will be without the services of legendary club stalwart Downhill Dave. Downhill Dave will no doubt keep in touch with the boys on the Blog and will be an early starter on the esky when his home breaks coincide with Relics matches. Moves are afoot to have Downhill’s number 15 retired until he returns…
New Signings Bolster Relics Stocks
A handful of new Relics signings will complement the Relics nucleus which have been competitive in all leagues contested over the last four years. Mark Wheatley returns, along with new signings Greg “Howler” Howell, Rob “Wrecking Ball” Reckin, Ian George and Tony Buttwell.
The 2010 Relics
The following form guide features the known Relics for 2010.
The Axe – Still working his way to 45. Very sharp at the first training run showing he had not lost any of his skills during the off season. Pleaded with Coach Crow to mark Diamond Reid in the first local derby. Axe, however, went cold on the idea when Coach Crow said that marking Diamond would probably mean spending most of the match on the bench!
Howler – New recruit. Very speedy with good ball skills. Will no doubt improve sharply with a few games under his belt. Looks fit.
Shadow – Had a great finals series in 2009. Respected by team mates and opposition teams alike. Excellent football brain and skills. Can’t help it if he’s a Pommie!
Dallas aka Beer Bitch – Hopefully off season anger management counselling has worked. Temperament a major concern for Coach Crow. Steroid abuse issues also believed to be under control. Has assumed Beer Bitch duties for 2010. Blotted his copybook when only blue filth was available at first training. Note to BB – Coach Crow and the man with the pen both drink VB!
Man Mountain – Best keeper in world football. Relics best player on numerous occasions in 2009. Great team man who volunteered his home for post match gatherings on several occasions. Big hands and big feet!
Darchynian – Pound for pound the best football player in the league but has a glass jaw. Reigning o/45s player of the year. Looking for a big season without the responsibility of coaching. Watch this player!
The Toe – Confirmed at Saturday training that he had lost no power in his toe. Rugged defender. Look to him for some goal saving moments over 2010.
Wrecking Ball – New recruit. Star hockey player. Looks to be an uncompromising defender with a reputation as a hard man. Has shaven off all excess hair in an attempt to get that extra yard of speed so necessary in o/45s. Will make his presence felt.
Ian George – New recruit. Yet to be seen at training. No team name yet. Noted midfielder who is a transfer to Kincumber from another club where he played 35a’s. His daughter Sian stars for Kincumber in the juniors. If he is as good as her he will be an asset for the Relics in 2010.
Tony Buttwell – New recruit. No Team name yet. Leftie who looked very skillful at training on Saturday. Looks fit and capable of going all day. Has obviously played a great deal of football in the past. Will certainly test the opposition this season.
Statue – Looking fit for the 2010 season. His off season fitness work with personal trainer Ramon has certainly paid dividends. Unleashed a bevy of shots at training on Saturday. Look for a big season and an even bigger end of season trip.
Coach Crow – Eager for season 2010 to commence. Reported to be extremely happy with his roster and is looking to take the Relics to even greater glory this season. His own form also looked sharp on Saturday. Don’t be surprised if this man is doing plenty of Crowing at the end of season 2010!
Maximillion – Yet to be seen at training in 2010. Reported to have trained hard during the off season. Sure to give the esky a huge nudge again this season. Note to Beer Bitch – this man hates an empty esky!
The Hat – Yet to be seen at training in 2010. Looked fit, however, placing a bet in the Kincumber Pub. Reported to be very eager for the local derby against the All Stars. Look to him for a big season in 2010.
The Banker – Ever reliable defender who leads the back three well. Form, however, seems to have gone south since he gave up the grog last season. Looks to be over the injuries suffered in 2009. Get back on the piss Banker!
Mark Wheatley - Enthusiastic and skilled midfielder. Will find that wearing a bandana is not 'de rigueur' in o/45s. Yet to get a team name (and it won't be "Wheats"). Very fit. Look to him for a big season

Registration/ Team Manager
Don't forget to register at one of the official sessions . Details on club website. Due to high player numbers, returning players will not get preference if they dont register on the official days. We don't want returning players to miss out and us having to accept others because they registered .
Team Manager
Pete has asked that somebody nominate as team manager. Key duty is game day registration sheet and SMS of results. Meetings etc can be attended by others. Please consider helping out. To be discussed at team meeting.
Regards Steve.

Regrets?
Hey guys.
With regrets I am informing you all that I am not playing over 45's with the mighty Relics this year as Steve O has offered a contractual agreement of 2 beers per training session and 4 per match day to join the Rebel over 45's.
NOT. Actually I am joining an over 35 side with a bunch of guys I played with for 2 or 3 years in all age competitions and had a great time with.
I have really enjoyed the formation of the Relics. The comeraderie, the highs, the lows, the beers, the beers and BB's match reports but more importantly the friendships and new people I have had the pleasure of playing with.
I wish I could explain personally to everyone my reasons for leaving such a great bunch, and whenever we see each other face to face I will let you all know, but in the meantime, I wish you guys all the best for the season ahead.
MICK
BTW. 2 cartons of beer per week would never get me playing against you blokes and in the words of Jeff Fenech "I Love you'se all"
