Party for Shadow- What a year was 1951 !

Hi All.

Just a reminder that we are having a team party to congratulate Steve (Shadow) Harvey on his impending 60th birthday party. Plan is finish at Frost next Saturday at 2.30, have a couple of drinks and then back to my place for a late lunch sausage sizzle. Meat, Bread, Coleslaw provided. We'll advise during the week whether BYO or club Esky. Wives are cordially invited and children if needed. It will be an early finish say prior to 8 pm and some of Steve's other old Kincumber team mates will be joining us.

What about 1951?

Lets put Shadow still playing into perspective:

  • He is the only one of us to have ever lived under a British King.

  • Famous Australians born the same year include Evonne Goolagong, Alexander Downer, Geoffrey Rush and Doug Mulray. They all look way,way older than Shadow.

  • Steve is old enough to remember the first Sydney TV broadcast (if he'd been here).

  • In 1951 Hank Williams and Frankie Lane were topping the charts, Humphry Bogart won his only Oscar for "the African Queen" and the first Chiko rolls were sold at Wagga Wagga.

  • Besides Shadow, one other superstar footballer was born, Kevin Keegan, but he retired in 1984, the wimp!
