BBs Reports.

Dave Cullen, has created 2 great match reports and I for one would like to see a BB match report every week.

However that's not to say we cant have more than one match report if anyone feels like having a say.

If you guys agree just place a comment under this blog or see if you can twist his arm at training (he doesn't need it to play football).

Great work Mr. Beer Bitch.

Coach and Diamond at Loggerheads after Shock Loss

Coach Vic and Relics self acknowledged star signing Diamond Reid are not talking to each other in the aftermath of yesterdays shock 1-0 defeat at the hands of The Fossils. It is understood that the feud erupted following a terse conversation between the two at half time about match tactics. In the post match media conference Coach Vic indicated he was livid with Diamond, and with nostrils flaring, stated he was thinking about tearing up his contract or even a possible trade with veteran striker Archibald Henry who is off contract at Brentwood Village.

The Relics entered the match at Frost 2 brimful of confidence following victories over Avoca and Doylo. An early scare, however, saw Man Mountain arrive without his boots. MM calmly asked his team mates if anyone had a spare pair of size 17 boots in their bag – yeah big chance! On hearing this news reserve goalkeeper Dallas went into apoplexy and even offered to cut the toes out of his own boots in order for MM to take his place. Dallas had cut the toe out of one of his boots when MM accepted a pair of joggers from Roy, which sufficed for the first half. MM’s boots arrived at half time and he took the field for the second half correctly shod.

In the pre-match warm-up Downhill Dave boldly declared that "if we play like we trained Thursday we will flog this mob!" The Relics thundered onto the park eager for the starting whistle!

The Relics boasted a new look line-up. Coach Vic was obviously experimenting with his team as he had the ever reliable defender Banker Gray at striker, Diamond at right back, and relative newcomers to soccer Jeff “the axe” Towler and the Beer Bitch in the midfield.

The early exchanges were hotly contested but as the first half wore on The Fossils began to dominate possession. The Relics passing game disintegrated, with the ball regularly turned over to The Fossils. The Fossils always seemed to have two or three simple passing options. The Relics had no options in attack. Players were running away from the ball. The Relics balls were not finding feet and players were not marking up on their Fossil counterpart in defence. One sideline eye commented that The Relics were giving The Fossils too much depth in attack – whatever that means!

Eventually the pressure told and The Fossils scored an unremarkable goal mid way through the first period.

During this first period Coach Vic had to rearrange his team following an injury to the Big O. Initial thoughts were that Roy had suffered a hairline fracture to his fingernail but a subsequent diagnosis revealed a pulled groin. Roy was to return to play during the second half but only briefly and finally succumbing to his groin problem. Hopefully with some careful groin manipulation, rubbing, jerking and stretching during the week Roy will be back on the park for next Saturday.

After some much needed soul searching The Relics lifted in the second half and were unlucky not to score on several occasions. Statue hit the post after some good lead up work and Mickledinho just missed the right top of goal from a penalty kick. The Crow swooped on some great through balls and Coach Vic used some of his trade mark silken skills on the ball, but could not find his way to a clean strike. Diamond, sporting a new Fred Flintstone like hair cut, even ventured forward from his right back position to lend some help in the front line. At one point it was noted that Diamond took seven strides on the same blade of grass as he tried to scurry back into his defensive position.

Shadow began to cast the ball to feet in the second half and Maximillion, obviously working up a thirst for the post match esky had a strong second half.

It was clear that the team missed the left foot prowess of both The Hat and Adrian (need a nick name for Adrian). Unfortunately their powder keg left feet in the midfield were replaced by the powder puff left feet of The Axe and The Bitch. Hopefully next week The Hat is off the nest and Adrian is over his bung eye. The Toe’s gritty defence was also missed.

This match was a good wake call for The Relics. This competition will not be won on past reputations. No doubt Coach Vic will up the intensity at training and rally his troops for a much improved effort for next Saturday against competition front runners Budgewoi.

Line up has changed.

Adrian has a bad eye infection so its unlikely he will be available to play. Great effort to the Flemos who are celebrating their anniversary with a dirty weekend, even after nearly 3 decades of marital confinement. And poor old Grant has to work.

BANANADIHNO

Just taking the mickey out of you.

What do you think?

Better turn the sprinklers on mate, otherwise it might dry and they'll play soccer on it.

Sorry guys, the esky was loaded, the gear was on, the balls were pumped and so was I.

We are entering our 5th week of the soccer season and some of us may have manged to get 5 hours of playing soccer under our belt and that's including training.

Remember when we trained twice a week and the games were played in the rain. Don't remember higher level of injuries or anyone complaining about the condition of the park. I think the council and the insurance companies are reeducating us on how fragile we are. I agree players are more likely to get injured today, but its because of the lack of fitness.

So it can rain and the council can turn the sprinklers on at the same time but for our own safety don't cancel the game or I'll sue.

Friendly Line up.

Need keepers.

Bob has reactivated old injuries, and is having a bit of trouble with his back and shoulder, although he will be there on Sat, he is on the bench and if he's up to it will have a run on the park.

Can we have a couple of volunteers to do a half each as goal keeper, it doesn't matter whether you're confident or not the game is just for fun. And because it's just for fun I would like to go on the run on side and let the bench run itself.

Captain's Match Report.

Match report 18th April. vs Doyalson at Kin2.

Perfect day for footy and surprise, a fine pitch to play on.
Dominated early play with great passing and running off the ball to support. An early chance to Adrian after lovely lead up play (about 7 passes) but miscued.
Doyalson were trying to get their passing game together but strangely it was amongst their own defenders who didnt count on the gazelle like qualities (ha ha) of Mick who got a foot to a pass just inside the box and lashed a shot that fortunately wasnt on target and only succeded to find Adrian at the far post who made no mistake 1-0.
Unfortunately we fell away a bit and lost our passing game by (according to the coach) looking for the miracle pass and gave the ball away much too easy. However our defence held firm and even when Doylo had a shot they were never goin to trouble Bob too much. It was gr8 to see our defence never panic (welcome Steve O ) and actually start our attacking raids with clever and precise passing. Even Max under pressure was turning his marker and giving beautiful passes.

Start of the second half saw us take the field with 10 men seeing as we all wanted Vic to actually play as he would have had a ball the way their defenders still wanted to play passes amongst themselves. When he finally got on it was exactly the way we saw it. He harrassed them and kept getting the ball off them b4 it got to halfway. It took us about 15 mins b4 we settled down again and kept possession but when we did we dominated. A screaming half volley from Mick was somehow tipped around the corner by the keeper but 5 mins later a perfect corner from Flemmo found Micks bullet header for the bottom corner again parried by the keeper only for Vic the poacher to lash it in the net. By this time we were dominating and 5 minutes from time a lovely cut-back from Vic and expert dummie by Statue allowed Mick to finally beat his nemesis in goals to land a fine 3-0 result for the old farts.

Inventor required

Anyone out there smart enough to create some kind of magnetic field we can strap on underneath our shirts? Only need 3, 1 for me, 1 for shadow and 1 for Pete. Now crucially we need to get polarity right so that shadow is repelled by Pete and attracted by me.....

Relics 3 Doylo 0

Great work guys, much better game than last week. We dominated the beginning and the end of the game that's probably obvious cause that's when the goals went in, however I don't think Doylo played as good as Avoca did last game.

We will be top of the table and that will make us a target, if there is anything that I would choose to improve its not giving the ball away when we are not under pressure, easy balls went to the opposition because we tried miracle passes. I think we have the team that can pass the ball all the way to the front.

But hey, I'm not complaining we deserve to be at the top, well done guys.

C'mon team, who is going to volunteer to do the match report???
